Secondary Storage

Secondary storage stores data for software which is not currently in use. It is non-volatiledata is kept when power is lost, and high capacity.

Hard Disk Drive (HDD)

A hard disk drive is low cost, at approximatly 5p/GB.

However, it is fragile as it has spinning magnetic disks.

Solid State Drive (SSD)

A solid state drive is higher in cost when compared to a HDD, at around 20p/GB.

However, it has high data transfer speeds, and no moving parts.

Optical Disc

An optical disc is relatively cheap, at around 5p/GB, and is highly portable.

However, it is fragile as it can scratch, and has slow transfer speeds.
